The 990 PRO sits at the top of Samsung's Gen4 client line, pushing PCIe 4.0 close to its practical ceiling at 7,450 MB/s sequential read and 6,900 MB/s write. An in-house controller and V-NAND TLC deliver up to 1,400K/1,550K random IOPS for game loading and creative applications.
Samsung emphasizes performance per watt, with meaningful efficiency gains over the 980 PRO generation, plus a nickel-coated controller and optional heatsink model for sustained transfers and PlayStation 5 installs. Capacities span 1 TB to 4 TB with Samsung Magician management software.
